This breathtaking print depicts a Rocky Mountain Landscape with a river running through it. Cornered by 9 hunting dogs on a rock can be seen a Stag (deer) with three Scotsmen dressed in kilts and carrying guns and walking horses watch in anticipation.
The piece is in full color. The bottom left corner is in German and reads _____ Druck u, Verlag v.
Silber in Berlin Luisen - Str. The bottom right corner reads New York, Max Jacoby & Zeller 70 John Street, Geiger Nachdruck geisichert. Protected behind glass and housed in its possible original period frame with pine board backing.
Frame in Acceptable condition with heavy wear and chipping to the gesso. Index card affixed to reverse side of litho gives provenance info and reads found in the attic of the REMINGTON homestead - 110-112 Jefferson Ave. The provenance is quite worthy of further research in determining just which Remingtons owned this homestead! In Poor/Fair condition due to heavy staining/rippling as well as soiling and creasing to the edges and corners. The paper appears to be very old and may predate the 1860s. Judging by the rippling and creasing in the piece my guess would be that this piece was found crumpled and wrinkled and damaged and then was meticulously brought back to a displayable state. The staining and wrinkling are unfortunate however this piece still displays very well in a well lit or sun filled room and can be overlooked due to the extreme rarity of this desirable hunting print! Frame measures 22 1/2 x 26 1/2 x 1 thick. Please enjoy the photos for further item details and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
